Hunting for Public Data that Might Indicate Neighborhood Investment

Today, we entered the data from last week’s survey of census tract 2422 in Wicker Park / Ukrainian Village. I taught them how to write simple formulas to calculate walker frequency and the average number of vacant lots and abandoned buildings. Then, the students began looking for public data that might relate to neighborhood investment. They were surprised at how much information is available on a census tract – lots and lots of good data!
